Layflat fire hose, hose reel and couplings

Minwen Fire · hoses, reels and couplings

Fire Hose, Reel and Coupling Manufacturer

Layflat and rubber-lined hose, semi-rigid reels, nozzles, couplings and adaptors — the complete hose system from one factory. The decision that matters most is the coupling standard, because it is the one that stops the delivery fitting the site.

Decision criteria

Five parts, and what each one is decided by

Diameter and working pressure follow the system. Coupling standard follows the country. Jacket and lining follow how the hose is stored and how often it is run out. Each option below states what it is right for.

Polyester-jacketed layflat fire hose
01

Layflat Fire Hose

Best for fire brigade use and building risers where the hose is stored flat and run out when needed. Polyester or nylon jacket with EPDM or natural rubber lining, DN25 to DN80, in BS 6391, EN 14540 or GB 6246 by specification.

Swinging-arm semi-rigid fire hose reel
02

Semi-Rigid Hose Reels

Best for first-aid firefighting inside buildings, where an untrained occupant has to use it without laying hose out first. Swinging-arm or fixed-arm, DN19 to DN25 semi-rigid PE or PVC hose, wall-mounted swivel or recessed cabinet types.

Adjustable jet and spray fire nozzles
03

Fire Nozzles

Best for matching the discharge to the hazard: jet reaches, spray cools and protects the operator. Branch inline and pistol-grip adjustable types, in fixed jet, spray or fog, combination, and automatic pressure-regulating options, 60 to 480 L/min.

Storz and instantaneous fire hose couplings
04

Hose Couplings

Best for the connection the destination market actually uses — this is the specification most often got wrong. BS336 instantaneous, Storz, GB aluminium alloy and threaded BSP or NPT, in male and female configurations.

Fire hose adaptors and coupling reducers
05

Adaptors & Reducers

Best for sites where more than one coupling standard is already installed, or where imported equipment has to meet existing brigade fittings. Bridges BS336, Storz, ANSI and GB, in brass or alloy.

Matrix

Size, pressure, material and standard, side by side

These are the values a quotation is built from. Where your specification names a different standard, say so at inquiry rather than after sampling — the coupling in particular cannot be corrected at the destination.

Reel × coupling pairing

Hose reel instant coupling: what to match before you order

An instantaneous coupling on a hose reel has to fit two different things at once — the thread at the reel’s inlet valve and the supply standard already installed on site. Order it against one side only and the reel arrives correct but cannot connect.

Checkpoint What to verify Why it matters
Reel inlet connection Male or female thread at the reel valve, sized to the DN19 or DN25 reel The instant coupling is ordered against the reel inlet thread, not the hose size
Supply-side standard What the hydrant, landing valve or brigade connection on site uses — BS336 instantaneous, Storz or threaded The supply side decides whether you need an instant coupling, an adaptor, or both
Coupling size & pressure Coupling DN and its rating against the reel’s 1.2 MPa working pressure The coupling rating must meet or exceed the reel it feeds
Material choice Brass where the connection is made and broken often, aluminium where weight matters Wear life differs by duty — a stock programme and a fixed installation are not the same case
RFQ inputs Reel model, inlet size, site supply standard and quantity One missing field is the difference between a quotation and a clarification round

Best-fit guidance

Four situations, and what we would quote

Most hose enquiries land in one of these. If yours does not, send the system drawing and the destination country and we will say which build fits.

01

Building first-aid firefighting

Semi-rigid reel, DN25, 30 m, in a cabinet. Occupants use it without laying hose out, so the reel matters more than the hose specification.

02

Riser and brigade connection

Layflat in the length your riser cabinets take, with the coupling standard the local brigade carries. Get the coupling right and the rest is ordinary supply.

03

Mixed-standard site

Adaptors alongside the hose order. Sites that have been extended over decades usually carry two coupling families, and the adaptor is cheaper than re-fitting either.

04

Distributor stock programme

Two or three hose sizes with pre-attached couplings, at MOQ 200 pcs per model. Assemblies ship ready to use, which is what a counter sale needs.

Risk notes

What goes wrong when the choice is wrong

Hose is straightforward cargo and awkward specification. These are the four failures that come back to us.

Hose winding and coupling assembly line

Coupling standard assumed from the drawing. BS336 and Storz look interchangeable on a specification sheet and are not on site. Name the standard and the male or female configuration at inquiry; this is the one thing that cannot be fixed at the destination port.

Working pressure taken from the hose, not the system. Layflat runs 1.0–2.0 MPa depending on diameter and jacket, and proof test is typically twice working pressure. Confirm the classification your specification requires rather than the one the catalogue shows.

Length ordered per roll instead of per riser. Standard rolls are 10, 15, 20 and 25 m. A cabinet built for 30 m of reel hose does not take three 10 m lengths joined.

Certification assumed to cover everything. Hose and hose reel lines hold CCC. Nozzles and adaptors are made under ISO 9001 but are not CCC-marked, and we say so before a tender rather than after.

Common questions

Questions buyers ask before inquiry

What types of fire hose do you manufacture?

Layflat hose with a polyester jacket and rubber lining, DN25 to DN80, and semi-rigid hose for reels at DN19 to DN25. Nozzles, couplings and adaptors are supplied alongside. Layflat is available in BS 6391, EN 14540 or GB 6246 by specification.

What coupling standards are available?

BS336 instantaneous, Storz and GB aluminium alloy as standard types. BSP and NPT threaded, and ANSI, are available on request, along with adaptors and reducers for cross-standard compatibility. Name the required standard at inquiry.

What is the MOQ?

200 pcs across all hose product types. Mixed orders spanning different hose sizes, couplings and nozzles are accepted within a single purchase order.

Are your fire hoses CCC certified?

The hose and hose reel lines hold CCC, the mandatory mark for Chinese-manufactured fire protection products. The factory also operates under ISO 9001. Nozzles and adaptors are made under the same quality system but are not CCC-marked.

Can hoses arrive with couplings already attached?

Yes. Specify hose size, length, coupling standard and the male or female configuration at inquiry and the assemblies ship ready to use.

What lengths do you manufacture?

Standard rolls are 10 m, 15 m, 20 m and 25 m. Custom lengths are available above MOQ. Hose reels carry 30 m as standard, with up to 40 m on request.

What is the lead time?

Sample review runs 15–20 days from payment confirmation. Bulk production runs 35–60 days from order confirmation, depending on the size mix and the current factory schedule. Confirm the timeline at order stage so it matches your project or stocking plan.

Are fire hoses dangerous goods for shipping?

No. Hoses, nozzles, couplings and reels are standard non-hazardous cargo and need no DG declaration, which makes them simpler to ship than pressurised extinguishers.

What is the working pressure?

Layflat runs 1.0–2.0 MPa depending on diameter and jacket construction. Semi-rigid reel hose operates at 1.2 MPa. Proof test pressure is typically twice working pressure. Confirm the classification your specification requires at inquiry.

Can I get OEM branded hose?

Yes. Labelling is available on the hose jacket or as a tag, on reel nameplates, and as coupling engraving. Send the brand design and we confirm feasibility and the MOQ for that customization.

Do you supply cabinets to store the hose?

Yes — recessed and surface-mounted cabinets for single and double reel installations. See the fire cabinets page for specifications, or include the cabinet requirement in the hose enquiry and we quote the complete package.
